Sorry, but of a carp title but this is the problem I have, hopefully some brain can assist:

Basically my laptop is connected to the internet via WIFI. This connection is then shared and I connect a VOIP phone to my ethernet port so that I can make & receive calls. This works perfectly.

Now if I connect the phone direct to the router I can access the configuration via the IP address. I ran ipconfig to get the IP of the phone on the ethernet port but when I try to connect to it I just get 'cannot esatblish connection'

Does anyone know of a way I can connect to the phone and change the config via my browser as if it was connected directly to the router?

My limited knowledge tells me it must be possible....

Make sure the PC isn't giving the phone an IP rather than the router.

If it is the router giving it the IP then you may need to edit some firewall rules to let a connection through.

It would appear it's the pc giving the phone the IP. The phone isn't displayed in the routers attached devices.

I'm totally stumped. If I enter the phones IP then I guess the router is looking for it as in Router>Phone not Router>PC>Phone.

Do I have to somehow redirect the request? I can ping the phone okay but just can't get to the config page.

Correct. You won't be able to ping the phone from anywhere but the PC it's attached too, if your pinging something it's another device with the same IP given by the router.

I'm not too familiar with IP phones but you would either need to forward specific traffic to the phone and back somehow, or use the PC as a through and through so the router is the one giving it an IP.

You any idea how I can use the pc as a through and through so the router assigns the IP? I don't want to have to run a cable to the router to the phone as its just not practical.
