How to connect xbox 360 to I/O HDMI?

hi guys my monitor has only got DVI connection and no HDMI, so i just tried to plug the HDMI from the xbox into the HDMI at the back of my pc mobo in the HDMI I/O shield but i can figure out of this will work? any ideas?

The HDMI, from your xbox and from your motherboard will both be outputs. So plugging your Xbox into the motherboard won't work.

I assume it will work if you use a DVI to HDMI adapter into the monitor, but i have never tried it personally, but in theory it should be fine.

HDMI to DVI will work, but you will have no sound

I use mine with an HDMI to DVI cable, and I had an old cable I used that fits into the trapezium shaped connector that takes the sound to the speakers. PC is via VGA.
