How to console ProCurve 2626 (24 port switch)

Right, I've got the above switch, now it's been reset to factory defaults (pressing reset + clear, then releasing reset followed by clear). I can't for the life of me get a console connection over the serial port, It goes part way and gets to a point where is says "Waiting for Speed Sense. Press enter twice to continue." and then nothing happens, if i wait nothing happens and pressing twice nothing happens.. :confused:

Is this by a serial cable or over telnet? I've got 40 hp procurves at work and some respond on telnet, where they won't respond over serial.. Think it's a firmware issue, but i've got the serial settings of 56000-8-n-xoff/xon

But if you can find the ip from the dhcp then i'd use telnet over to that as it seems more reliable, just be careful not to change ip settings and get locked out!!

I found that it is usually due to using a USB-Serial adapter. When I configure them I have to use my non-USB rollover (have 2 on my PC)

Yes, its over serial cable, i've also tried a cisco roll over cable too, it always hangs at the same point of "Waiting for Speed Sense. Press twice to continue." I'll try your settings to see if they work, i had before just gone with the defaults presented by HP.
