How to continue with this sale?

Well I have a pc up for sale on gumtree and someone is interested but they don't live anywhere near me. How can I proceed with this sale to avoid the possibility of being scammed?

Do it through paypal?
ie: you don't send the item until you've received payment

I usually make them come and pick the item up if I am selling on Gumtree.

But there is some fraud protection/ assisstance in place though.

EDIT: if he asks for payment, before sending the item out, then there's no problem

tell them to meet you somewhere and leave a paper trail of clues tied to lamp posts and trees, under rocks and in phone boxes, and follow them and assess.

this will impart you with valuable information about your potential foe.

then go 'hello' if you are happy.

Yes there is ..... for the buyer

"item didn't arrive" - refund

Recorded delivery:

"box arrived but it had a brick in it" - Refund

Or slight more realistic:

"PC arrived but it had no graphics card in it"

Get them to bank transfer you the money before you post.
