I was wondering, how to we control the speed of 3pin fans, which are originally in the case, such as the haf-x case, if at all.

And also, how do we connect them to the mobo, if say the mobo only has 2x3pin connectors? is there a trick to this? Going to be starting my build soon once i collect the parts from my parents tomorrow, and want to know this in advance, thanks!

A 3 pin fan can be controlled by current (amps) or voltage using either a fan controller unit or a simple shunt wire which increases resistance (?) and reduces voltage.

You can get splitter cables to connect two or more fans to one socket with a molex connector to provide enough power, a fan controller will have several fan inputs normally.

You can control them by using speedfan.
Don't have the link right now but it only took me few minutes to google it when I used the same.

Yeah figured i'd need a fan controller at some point, which i will invest in, just not right this second, not enough monies! ^^

And i'll take a look at that application, thanks ;)

Depending on your motherboard there are applications provided by the makers that allow some fan speed control. Gigabyte have easytune6 that does the job on their boards.

Speedfan, Easytune etc need to have some motherboard cooperation to control the fan speed though. If the motherboard only supports CPU fan control then that is all you'd be able to affect the speed of.

You can pick up basic fan controllers pretty cheaply but for the automated and pretty ones you'll need deeper pockets.
