Hi Guys

Me and and wife are decorating the lounge, we want to hide all the wiring so that it goes into another room, this also includes the sky box. However due to the signal i cannot control it, is there a way to control the sky box with out it being in the same room?

Thanks

D

magic eye thingy, I've got my sky box in the cupboard behind the telly, and the wee transmitter attached to the underside of the wall mounted telly so you can't see it, it just runs through a normal aerail cable and uses power from the sky box

If it's a newer box Sky+HD box, you can use the apps as above providing they're connected to your home network. They don't support CEC/HDMI control though.

That said, you can't control all features (e.g power) using the app so a remote extender of some kind would be a better option. I find the apps are a bit temperamental too.

Yeah, when I had Sky installed at a flat a few years back I was using an old generic brand CRT temporarily until my new one arrived. The guy asked me what make the new one was, I said Samsung, and he set it up there and then ready for it.

I pretty much only use my ipad/iphone to control our sky+ box, the app is very good plus it gives you live tv guides and access to remote record.

Logitech Harmony 900. Great bit of kit. Box down stairs and one tv upstairs connected by rf through wall sockets. Not HD quality through rf but we can watch and change channel from our bed.

The best site to get a code to program your Sky Remote control to operate your TV is: http://sky.uebv.com/

The instructions are under the battery cover, along with details to confirm which specific version of the remote control you have.
