How to cool a 6950

Yeah but still, it heats up everything else and makes me sad

It won't generate any less heat however you cool it.

yeah i suppose, just enjoy cooling things and improving them from what they were, like an RPG for life lol

Case fans can do wonders if you don't have any or only one at the moment. The air might not be circulating properly and it's stuck inside the case warming up everything.

You should get a bit cooler temps for your CPU too if you get the airflow in your case improved.

i bought the bitfenix spectre 230mm fan and it doesnt really fit properly, i still made it fit to place as best it could (using only two of the screw holes, at a-symmetrical positions at the top side so it hangs), the power cables from my GPU actually help to keep it in place, which is nice. but it has made a HUGE difference to my 6950's temperatures,

Before i got the fan:
Idle:49-60
3 hours of top graphical quality games:70-80

After i got the fan:
Idle:46-50
3 hours of top graphical quality games:49-50

i still plan to do a proper temperature difference review soon, im just rather busy at the moment.
i appreciate all the help you guys gave

I had it sucking in, blowing onto the card, are you planning to get the same fan?

Can get to about 70

As stated above thats well within the cards limits TJ max being about 106oC iirc.
I have 2 (unlocked to 6970) in CrossfireX, although I set my own custom fan profile, I have never seen the top card above 82oC, usually settles around 76oC for most games, and they have the voltage upped to 1.175V and clocked at 900/1375.
Nothing to worry about there!
