Well, I got the PS3 today and it's up and running, just downloaded the latest update and stuff. Anyhow, I'm stuck at creating a PSN account. All the details are correct but it refuses to allow me to create an account. I can get to the page where you enter your email, password and secret question, yet when I click continue it throws up a "Connection to Server has timed out" error. After that it throws up a DNS (80710102) error and I can't access anything that requires the internet.

I'm connecting wirelessly to my Linsys WAG160N Router.

Any ideas?

Can't connect with a cable, the PS3 and big TV are downstairs and the Router is upstairs where the phone socket is.

Now it won't even connect to the internet at all. Surely you don't have to keep entering the details each time you turn it on. There is no way I'm going to stay sane if I have to keep using an on-screen keyboard to enter a rather long WPA2 key each time I want to access anything on the internet.

hmm, cant be your connection else you wouldnt have been able to download the updates.

I have just checked my PSN and im all connected okay, so unless the registration is down? have you tried registering with a different e-mail address?

Also, once your PS3 is all connected to the wireless router, you wont have to keep entering your WPA/WEP key.

Have you tried restarting your router?

Have you got the latest firmware update for your router?

If you access the router does the PS3 shows up as being connected? If so it may be an idea to open the ports to allow the router give the PS3 access to the outside world. it may be more useful for you to stick the PS3 in the DMZ in the router, if this works then open the ports required (in the PS3 faq), you can leave it in the DMZ but may leave it open to attacks (not very likely).
Also pretty sure you can just use a USB keyboard to enter in the data instead of the on screen thingy.

You can always create your PSN account using your PC when you go to the official PlayStation website. You can then easily link all your other consoles, PS2, PSP if you have them to the account as well.
