We have a mobile user base who connect to a Windows 2008 terminal server from their Windows XP SP3 laptops. While connected they need easy access to their local "My Documents" folder on the laptop, usually so that they can copy files from the remote server and be able to access them offline on the laptop.
We want to create a Shortcut or Favourite in each user's TS session which gives them one-click access to their LOCAL My Documents folder, but can't find a reliable way of doing this which continues to work after the user has logged off the terminal server and back on again.
If we add the \Documents and Settings\Username\My Documents folder as a favourite in the TS session this will work until the user logs off. When they log back in the Favourite is still visible but you get an "unspecified error" if you select it.
If we add a shortcut to the same folder on the desktop it too re-appears after logging off/on, but nothing happens when you double-click it in subsequent TS sessions.
What's the best way of setting up a permanent shortcut to a local folder in TS?
