How to deal with input lag?

I normally play with vsync off and accept tearing but my card is a 4870x2 and is more than capable of vsync on. 1 problem lag lag lag movement feels delayed and horrible. i have heard it is input lag. i play cod 4 and would like to know if their is a way of sorting this out?

How do you turn off mouse acceleration?

I tried cod 4 without tripple buffering didnt make a difference. i have a razer mouse which is 1800 dpi.

is your panel a newer TN type panel, if so that may be the source of the lag as new TN panel have a thing called overdrive, makes the pixels change faster so the manufactorers can claim 2ms times but it adds input lag

My monitor is crt which is like 14 years old.
