Ok so I cant remember my new log in password I created for my HTPC... I have managed to install Vista on another drive, all be it the original drive I cant gain entry to is Windows 7

Is there some easy simple way to delete this password? I did try making a ISO with Offline NT Password Recovery but it just hung on loading for hours so doesnt work.

Maybe deleting some files or editing the registry?

Thanks!

Ophcrack gets mentined a lot, I use active password recovery to delete the password.

OPHCrack will only recover the password on Windows Vista/7 if it's seven characters or less, otherwise the tables are ginormous.

If you're having problems with creating an Offline NT boot cd you could try Hirens Boot CD which also has a version of Offline NT.

Failing that there's always the sticky keys trick.

There is a password reset tool on Hiren's I often use for this sort of thing, you can unlock the local administrator account from here and set a blank password. Reset the users password from the local admin account.
