I know, I know, set it off, watch the fireworks, etc etc.
But seriously, how do I dispose of it? I know I can't just put it in the bin because it might explode in some poor dustman's face, or cause some damage if it deploys when the rubbish is all compacted.
I thought about taking it to the tip, and see what they say, but it's a fair drive to take one thing there if they say no, and their/Derby council's website has nothing to say about airbags.
Scrap yard maybe? Again though it's a bit of a trip if they won't take it.

I think something involving fire is leading the way tbh. I might give it a quick run on Ebay and see what happens, this time next week I could be the owner of a gecko or maybe a bearded dragon.

Surely setting it off is more fun and sensible than setting it on fire? It can only need 12v on a pair of wires surely?

I was mostly joking about the fire.
It's a case of finding somewhere out of the way to do it, and then probably using my car battery because I don't have a spare 12V battery anywhere. Hence why I'm asking, because to set it off without attracting unwanted attention or having anything nearby that might be damaged is a bit of a hassle, because...

Just be careful, when they go off they really do go off

Microwave! I'd posted the youtube link but it contains swearing, just search Microwave an airbag its "experiment" #167

My only sensible suggestion would be a breakers yard.

That's the only sensible thing I can think of really, do you reckon they're likely to just take it off my hands if I wander in with it? I could do with heading there maybe next weekend so I might take it and see what they say.

This also looks like a valid and sensible way to dispose of it - on second thoughts, might contain swearing, haven't listened to it. But search for "THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU SIT ON A CAR AIRBAG" on Youtube and have a giggle.

I've been beaten too it but I would give them a ring first.

I'll certainly try, just never had any luck getting them to answer the phone, and every time I've been there if the phone rings no one seems in a hurry to pick it up.
I was more just asking if I was missing somewhere obvious to try, or whether other people have just taken them into breakers . I'll give them a ring at some point and if they don't answer, I'll just take it with me next time I'm there and see what happens. I've had it lying around for about a month now so another week or two to get rid won't make any difference.

Firstly, it's not going to explode without a source of power (or flame).

Secondly, all car manufacters are liable to recycle their cars, like Ford have a number of authorised recycle centres for theirs listed on their website.

Or
Take it to a scrap dealer, actually if it works it is worth money to them.

Love how funny that first video is even when it's a man hitting a roof head first then falling about 8 feet to concrete . Amazing !

Wow lol and to think that happens to your face

Guy in the second video looks very unhappy, he landed flat on his head must have hurt a bit :p
