Hi i am thinking of having XP 32 on one sata hard drive and Vista 64 on another. Can i do this and by doing this will there not be conflicts between graphics drivers etc...? If i can how do i do it ? Thanks in advance.

No conflicts. Just install one or t'other then when its finished install the other.

Thinking about it, its possible both ways (WinXp => Vista and Vista => WinXp) but one is easier than the other. Try a wee google search......

Yeah it's fine.

I'd recommend installing xp first then vista. Use a program called "easybcd" to organise the boot screen - it's simple.

You'll need to install different drivers on each OS.

Im triple booting at the moment.

Got Vista Home Premium as my main OS,
then XP Professional for my music production
then Windows7

Just install one after the other and then use EasyBCD.

so is there no driver conflicts with the gpu drivers then? obviously as they will be different drivers. Or are the drivers just installed on each hard drive individually? and whats the best way to have the drives set in bios? thanks guys appreciated. Also when i boot up how do i pick which drive ie os i want to start? do i have to go into bios everytime? cheers.

There will be no conflicts as you will need to load the gpu drivers for each operating system after install.
Install XP then Vista, after the post you will get a options menu asking what operating system you want, just use the arrow keys & press enter.

Yes, that will go fo all your drivers - chipset, lan ect.
Your basicaly setting up two operating systems which will run independently.

I know people have various ways of dual booting but I normally make a habit of posting this link for info as its quite a good starting point.
Other ways I have read are to install each OS with one hdd attached, and then removing it and attaching the other hdd for the second OS, then relying on the [motherboard] boot menu to decide which OS to load. In some ways that saves messing about with boot loaders. Not tried it myself but probably will the next time I have a big clean up.

cant understand why there would be conflicts my m8 has vista and xp on same drive he just created two partitions one with vista other with xp when it askes what partition to install to just choose the other partition with no operating system on...or am i missing somthing here?
