How to do a fresh non bloatware install of Windows on a laptop ?

Hey gang,

Ive got a Samsung laptop that is clogged to the brim with useless bloatware and the system is so slow recently for a mid range spec machine.

I want to wipe the HDD and do a fresh install of Windows 7 64 bit. The laptop came with the restore discs but Im guessing a full restore will also restore all the bloatware it had from the factory. I just want windows and nothing else.

Would I have to source a version of Windows Home Premium 64 and use the serial key on the sticker and then download all the drivers?

I use the windows 7 ISO on a old laptop I have.

I downloaded the latest version of windows 7 with SP1, disk I have doesn't have that in and then extracted the downloaded ISO to a USB stick, installed from that and used the original product key to activate windows on after.

Whats the difference between Win 7 SP1 and Win 7 SP1-U Media Refresh?

Is it basically the same thing but with the extra media refresh patch? Is this the better of the two to get?

The U version (58997) just contains one extra hotfix regarding a problem with computer naming during installation.
