Hi,

I've got a situation that has arisen and I'm not sure how to go about resolving it.

At the moment we have two desktops at home. The main, most powerful desktop is mine and currently resides in a corner of what used to be a spare room but is now our 14 month old sons room. It's the PC in my sig below and its the one I work on web design with. My wife has a desktop PC downstairs in the dining room which she uses for her work also. Both of these desktops have Outlook installed on them for email accounts, mine has my email and the desktop downstairs my wife uses has hers.

Now, we both need to have access to a PC to do work on but not at the same time plus the over riding factor in all this is that my PC is having to come out of our sons room and replace the one my wife uses downstairs. Following so far??!!. :)

So, what I was thinking of doing was adding another Windows user to my desktop ( my wife ) so she can do her stuff under that log on and I can carry on with my stuff under my log on. However, I'm a bit puzzled as to how Outlook will work when I do this. If I add another user to Windows, will Outlook be under that log on with no accounts configured?. If so is it the case that I then just add her Outlook email account to it and then when she logs on and checks her mail, its just her account that is showing up?. And vice-versa, when I log on my Outlook email accounts are the only ones to be there?.

Thanks in advance for any info.

Forgot to add that it's Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit that my desktop is running. She has Vista Ultimate x86 on her's.

Thats correct. As she is a separate user, she will also have a separate Outlook account; She wont be able to see yours and vice versa.

Depending on how her current outlook account is configured, you may need to backup her PST file and move that over just incase her emails aren't stored on the email server (If they aren't, when the account is created, it wont have her old emails, just new ones she receives).

Although we can cross that bridge when it comes to it :)

Cool, excellent. Many thanks. So if I just do the following :-

1. Set up a new Windows User as her on my PC.
2. Log on to her account and start Outlook for the first time under her log on.
3. Input her email account details.
4. Copy her PST from her PC across into the required directory on my PC ( What folder will her copied PST go into on my PC?. Don't want to drop it into my account folder and overwrite all my email ).

Then that should be it all sorted and good to go?.

When it comes to the PST, its easier to do an Import/Export using Outlook itself as this will copy it to her account profile and save you the hassle of manually doing it.

Good stuff. I recall seeing that Import/Export thing in Outlook somewhere before. I take it you just "Export" to a file from her Outlook account on her PC then drop that file onto my PC, log on as her, fire up Outlook and "Import" it back in?.

Apologies for the "obvious" questions!!.

Yep, export it and then once her account is setup on the other PC, then import it back in. :)

Ta. Just had a bash at it just now, when I click on "Export" it gives me various file format options, I assume I choose .PST.

However then it goes to this screen :-

"Inbox" shows as highlighted. Do I just leave it at that and click "Next"?. Or do I need to highlight the "Contacts" and "Sent" items somehow too?.
