Hello.

Can anyone please let me know if it is possible and if so how to automatically switch to cleartype in Windows 7 when connected to a plasma TV?

I use my normal PC LCD monitor for everyday use but use my plasma TV for watching movies and playing some games.

When displaying my windows desktop on my plasma TV, the text on the windows folders and icons and the windows GUI and applications and programs
etc is not very clear to read a bit blurry and when view from a distance, it is very hard to read text on the screen, so I am thinking that enabling cleartype
might make the text a hell of a lot easier to see on a plasma TV.

I would like to enable it only when using the plasma TV, so is there anyway I could get cleartype to automatically enabled with set cleartype settings when
connected to a plasma TV and to switch back off when using my PC LCD monitor as been set back to primary display?

I am sure cleartype is already being used even on my PC LCD monitor as when I go into the adjust cleartype text in the windows control panel, display
application, the turn on cleartype box is already ticked, but i'm sure the setting are at their default settings because I have never manually set clear type using
the wizard.

Thank you for responding.

If you have cleartype enabled, then it will be used on the plasma. Though it's probably of limited use on a TV screen.

Disable it all, save a Theme in personalise.
Enable it all, save another Theme in personalise.

Use latter for the Plasma, former for everything else.

I disable Cleartype via registry keys but it sometimes comes back on, reselecting my saved Theme in personalise seems to disable it again. Whether that is by design I do not know but it seems to work :p

Any reason you want ClearType AT ALL? I find it does nothing for making text clearer, just makes a blurry mess of it all.

Yes you are right.

I have tested ClearType on my plasma TV on different settings and it makes no difference.

Is there any other setting in windows 7 I could set to make the text much sharper and clearer and more bold for use on a plasma TV?
