Hi there, I am struggling to get onto the Internet with my new Gigabyte motherboard with onboard Wifi.

There is the suggestion that I enable this in the BIOS by going to PERIPHERALS, but I have searched the BIOS>Advanced and I am unable to find any memtion of it.
Any help much appreciated.

Thank you.

Thank you for the promptv reply.
I was sure the new motherboard was rev1.7 but I must be wrong as there is no ethernet port on the motherboard just a hole.
Do I need to get inside the compter to find the correct revision, or can you still please help.
Could it have been 1.8?

The only model of that motherboard with WiFi is the Gigabyte B550M DS3h AC

Thank you fior your reply, I will make a note of that 'AC'.
I can get onto the Internet using a donggle with a strong signal, no problem.
I thought I would try the WiFi but there is no connection.
I read that I need to 'turn on' this connection in the BIOS?
I got into the BIOS>Advanced, opened the various tabs but no where could I see any mention of WiFi.
Thank you.

Your welcome.

Theres definitely a lan connection on your motherboard so you could run an ethernet cable if you prefer.

Can you download CPU-Z and tell us exactly what it says for your motherboard model?

As mentioned, the B550M DS3H rev1.7 does not have onboard WIFI, but it does have LAN/ethernet.

The B550M DS3H AC rev1.7 does have WIFI and it has connectors for an antenna at the back which you can plug in (no antenna would give you a very poor signal).

One way to confirm you have wifi is to look for these bronze/gold connectors at the rear of your computer, if they're not present, you do not have the WIFI model.

Thank you for your help on this one.

I need to take the side panel off my PC and check the details of the motherboad that I only bought a couple of month ago, I never realsed it had no lan port until I was about to install my lan cable into it, just a hole where the port usually is. The retailer never mentioned this.

As it is I am happy using the donggle, so no big deal.

Thank you.

They all have Lan ports on them. Take a photo of the back of your pc to show all the ports and link it here.

Have I been sold a duff Motherboard.
Definitely v1.7
The middle row of ports and top right are completely empty.
I have never needed these as I have always used the doggle and I used the a bottom USB port for the keyboard.
My mouse in wifi.
The plot thickens.
I have photographed the ports, saved it to my hard drive, could you please advise how I attach it to send it to you.
It is asking for a URL, sorry about this I am 82 and this is a steep learning curve for me.
Thank you for your help on this.

Can you please download CPU-Z and take a screenshot of the motherboard tab.

Your motherboard's I/O ports:
1. Do not match the motherboard model you have given us.
2. Do not match the I/O shield fitted to the case.

Problem solved, I am so pleased I posted this on the forum.
Slap the back of my hands, I made a bit of a mess of things.
It looks as though I left in the old I/O plated which when I slide in the new motherrboard covered up the ethernet port.
As you right said, all motherboards have a ethernet port.
It looks as though I discarded the original I/O which was for a 1.7 Gigabyte motherboard.
Damn not easy to spot a second hand one on the Internet, I will have to keep looking.
Once more thank you for all your help.
All is well that ends well, nearly.

Easy mistake to make, done it a few times myself and then had to pull the whole lot out again when I realised it didn't fit properly, together with a few curse words :D

You can safely run the pc with no io shield in place. Only risk is sticking stuff in there and it's a hole for dust to get in but it's no biggy, loads of people run without them all the time.

Lucky me, I did not discard the IO Plate as I first thought, I have just found it in the drawer I toss all bits and bobs I might need.

Part number on the see-throught plastic envelope containing the IO Plate is 12AIO-010222-32R.

Again, thanks for all the help and suggestions that have been given to me, without which I would not have searched the IO Plate that I had discarded.
