How to erase Mini-DV tape on a Sony Camcorder?

Silly question,

Ive got some mini-dv tapes that I need to wipe as I want to reuse them - how do I do that using my Sony HC30E Camcorder? The manual only mentions how to delete stuff off that CM tape but not normal stuff...

Do I just re-record over it with the lens shut and the sound off or something?

Dons - please move as you see appropriate...

Just record over of them and use them as needed
