I have a folder with loads of files, I want to know how much disc space a subset of those files occupies. I can highlight the files and Finders tells me I've got x of y files selected but if I do a "Get Info" I get x info windows pop up. How do I simply find the sum of the file sizes?

TIA

Hit cmd+ctrl+i and you will get a single "Multiple Item Info" popup with the combined file size.

Thank you kind Sir. Does the trick :)

Interestingly when I did it Finder flashed the File menu but I can't see the option there on the menu.

Right click the grouped files, THEN hold down option and you'll get the inspector (or whatever it's called) option appear instead of show info. That will give you the details of the group.

Thanks, it's called "Show Inspector" on the menu and I don't think I would have tried it even if I realised I could do right-click and alt. So many obscure meanings/keyboard short cuts to learn :( But we'll get there.
