hi all, ok i currently have a wired network which extends into another room via a very long Ethernet cable, and lately i have been experiencing slowness when sending files to my network drive in the other room, cant seem to get above 10 mbps, any way i tried a new cable and it worked so my cable is slowing me down, and the mrs dosent like seeing cables, and i dont want to drag up the laminate or skirting boards to hide the cables, so can i use my existing 5ghz wifi to a switch in the living room with good speeds, i currently have an asus ac68u, and i have 5 devices in the living room that need a network, what are my best options other than running a cable that is. oh and i need good speeds as im trying to run a plex server for 4 k content but currently the network is slowing my streams.

well it was ok, i m thinking maybe the carpet fitters damaged it when they fitted my new carpet in the living room, oh well ill just probably lay a new cable then, just didnt fancy lifting laminate and carpet again.

yeah thats what im gonna do i think, got some cable coming, i might try and go outside with it, could be easier, just need to cut to length and put the connectors on each end which ive never done before, so will be something new to try i suppose
