Howdy.

Alright been living with the parents, they have never used wifi much but a house for sale has come up about 5 doors down I'd say about what, 500 feet or so? And like I say they don't use the Internet a lot so even if I get the Internet directly to my property (potential property) what would be the cheapest way of doing so? Other than asking the neighbours if I can dig up a small trench to lay down a either net cable 4 houses in a row :p

Thanks

Well....

I'd go for a punt on something like this at your parents house: "150Mbps Wireless Outdoor Access Point, Long range Extender/Repeater Wi-fi Bridge High Gain Router Modem AP"

*coff*

And then at your end something like this: "AWUS036NHR"

However 500' with buildings in the way is going to be a pain in the ass for the signal unless you can arrange line of sight with minimal junk in the way.

A pair of ubiquiti nano stations aimed at each other on short poles attached to chimneys, should easily have a clear line of sight at that height.

Nsm5's can do 144 each way so will easily out perform the wire speed feeding them.
