I'm 99% sure someone is attacking my connection and grabbing my IP from Skype.

Any idea on how to find out for sure if someone is attacking my connection? It's just all very coincidental.

Cheers

I'm seeing this getting spammed in the Event Log. I guess my suspicions were correct?

It's blocking the packets though, any way of making sure the router doesn't respond to ICMP, DNS requests or NTP requests?

Well, the internet is fine now (since I'm signed out of Skype and restarted my router).
I'm still pretty sure someone is attacking my internet connection and grabbing the IP from Skype. I guess I'll not go on Skype for a little while :P

Why do you think you're being DDoSed?

If you're being DDoSed then you have no chance at stopping it with any amount of BT Homehub re-configuring..
Won't be any logs in the router if they are grabbing your IP from Skype.. Just google Skype resolver...

Best bet is to just create a new Skype and not give out the ID to any mugs.

It just seemed to happen after posting my Skype on a site. Wasn't my personal Skype, but one I use for another game.

No idea why I was getting targeted, but it all was very coincidental.

A DDOS wouldn't need Skype to continue, it's obviously some sort of targeted Skype attack. As has been said, be more careful with your ID and perhaps don't use that one again.

You would be surprised how often ddos attacks happen

Its just most times the attacks are so small you dont notice

Large scale attacks sometimes can consume stupid amounts of bandwidth and processing, although dont happen often

Just use the obvious lock down your rounter not to respond to outside requests you will be fine

Most attacks if yours is even a legit one, doesnt sound like it if its skype? , they dont tend to last long

My internet was just EXTREMELY slow. It would barely load any website in ~1 minute. Steam kept turning off, coming back on. When restarted the router, it was fine, but then it started again, that's when I had an incline it was Skype. After not going on it and restarting the router again, it's fine.

You could just be getting traffic managed.

Open up your start menu > type: cmd > type: tracert www.bbc.co.uk (or a website of your choosing)

See if there are any delays between hops.

Are you in one of the regions having major issues on bt, they have some dial codes affected for the past week, mwith various different dates for resolution?
Check mybt.

Reset your BT Hub and don't use Skype? It's a POS anyway to be quite fair.

I remember using it years ago, It would say people had logged on/off when it was really hours ago, I wouldn't be surprised if it's the same still.

Nooooo. My internet is always fine. My internet is fine now since I'm off Skype.

Where did you download Skype from? A few months back my dad downloaded Skype onto a new computer I had made for him from some dodgy Russian site (who knows why he did this) and needless to say it was full of viruses. Just do the usual virus and spyware scan to see if anything comes up.

Skype has 300 million users. It works perfectly, no issues with incorrect logon times etc.

BT are having DNS issues yet again.... this is probably what is slowing down browsing.
Try using google DNS severs 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 instead of BT's. You cannot change them on a HOME hub so just alter it on you're network adapter properties.
