I've got about 30 games on my pc, and whilst all of them work perfectly, Grid.exe starts up then crashes back to desktop. Now it used to work perfectly, but since i fitted my new hdd and installed windows and all the rest of the games on, Grid refuses to load up. It's the only game that does this. What are the first steps i should do to determine the problem?

Process Explorer may help if the game is crashing due to a denied resource. Use the filters to remove clutter.

If it's some buggy driver interaction or faulty game logic, then you're out of luck. Unless you're a gifted programmer. :p

Did you try purging all trace of it from the drive / registry and reinstalling it?

As a last resort.. if you have a spare drive / partition, you could put a barebones Windows install on there and see if it still crashes.

If I remember correctly, I had to actually download a cracked version of the EXE to get my legally purchased version of GRID to run. It would just load then stop and go back to desktop.

Yes, this could indeed be something to do with Codemasters fabled copy protection.
