Hey all,

Im trying to fix a 8ft x 4ft 3mm acrylic mirror across a flat wall (half brick half plasterboard) but having huge problems..

First the plasterer who plastered the garage tried silicone, it came off about 2 days later.

I then tried No More Nails, which lasted about 4-5 days before coming off again, I then tried mirror clips today, but due to the size of the mirror it doesnt really work (only had 4).

Not sure where to go from here, I was thinking of getting Mirror adhesive and loads of mirror screws, not sure though, any ideas?

You could epoxy some eyelet mounts in many places on the back and then hang it like a painting with cord using plasterboard screws and regular screws.

No more nails is GripFill's wimpy cousin btw, make sure its supported for at least 48 hrs after you put it up so it properly cures the GripFill.

The way it should be done is to seal the plaster where you want the mirror with a pva gule mix.
Plaster is bone dry and sucks all the moisture from silicones and mirror mates, so by sealing the surface you can stick to it.

Hope that helps.

Edit*, Grip fill can also do the job but a plastered surface must be sealed.

Hmm, seems like your right, as the no more nails etc kind of stuck to the backing but nothing bonded with the wall,

Would something like: Unibond UNI260947 - Super PVA Adhesive Sealer Primer on the plaster the use mirror adhesive on back of acrylic? How many tubes of adhesive should be put on a 8x4ft mirror?

cheers appreciate the help

with any if the adhesive products you will need a rough surface on the mirror for it to grip, its almost impossible to grip onto a smooth surface, if you want it stuck forever use sikkaflex, we use it for bonding sideskirts to cars and trust me your in a lot of trouble when you need to remove them lol
