Guys, i got a broken GTX280, i bought this of ebay and it arrived like this.
Any ideas how i can fix it ?

omg! if the seller said working etc then , return that for a refund, do so through ebay, ie not directly through seller , so u can get it official back to seller, and do it recorded delivery etc

I think he means he bought some guys broken one to try and fix
Ahhh yes - totally missed that bit. :D

In that case then just find a replacement - should be marked on it so will be doable.

Did a similar fix with a small component on an X-fi a while back.

This was sold as working!! I'm gutted, the card actually still works but its stuck @ x1 speed instead of x16. When I received it i popped in in my old system, it booted fine and drivers installed fine so i gave the seller positive feedback. Can i still get a refund ? also i paid him with a cheque, i received the card on saturday !!

I doubt that's the card if it's running at x1, probably something configured incorrectly.

OT but where the hell did that picture come from, was that a ninja edit or something

Damn, if you paid by cheque I doubt you'll be able to get the full amount back.
Definitely contact the seller and ask for a refund. If he refuses then contact ebay and start a dispute.

You should really always use paypal when buying high value items.

Definatley is the card, tried it on a few systems with the same results, manages to get up to x8 pcie on a asus p5w dh deluxe.

Well the cheque has probably cleared by now :(

Put a picture of your card up, and a close up of the area affected.

as before did you adjust pci-e frequency in bios from 100 to 101 - 102 - 103 etc, this usually sorts it!
