How to flash Aspire 1692WLMi ?

Hi guys,

I'm trying to fix this laptop. It turns on when the power is pressed but the screen stays black.

At first I thought it might be a problem with the screen but when I connected an external monitor to the VGA port there's no signal.

This leaves me to think that there's a problem with the BIOS? Does anyone agree?

I have downloaded the files for BIOS but am unsure how to flash it with a USB stick, can anyone help??

Unless you flashed the bios and it went bad, bioses don't tend to corrupt themselves.

Having owned a 1694WLmi I know how much the motherboard inside flexes when you pick one up, so I suspect its one of the BGA chips coming loose.

Any ideas what I can do test/resolve this issue?

if its not posting you would need to see if the bios supports a crisis tool, they're usually flashed via floppy or usb stick.

Have you tried basic diagostics like one stick of memory at a time, removing and unplugging unnecessary hard ware like the keyboard, optical drive, wifi card, touch pad etc? If you still get nothing I would suspect the motherboard is at fault.
