How to force games into full screen mode?

I've been playing a lot of fortnite and for some reason the only way i can play any resolution apart from my max (2560x1080) is by setting it to window mode then it lets me pick whatever res i like.

I have an ultra wide monitor and don't want to play this in 21:9 I prefer a lower ratio and res for this game.

Is there anyway I can force it to change so i can play whatever res in full screen or force my windowed 1440 res to full screen?

Anything less than your native res on fullscreen is going to look gash whilst playing. :confused:

Hmm no,

I want it so theres black between the picture, so its cropped off.

Don't want it in window mode with my desktop background at either side lol

after game has launched
Hold left ALT then Press ENTER

other than that, could could locate the config files for the game and manually edit them in notepad++

Okay ill try doing this when the game is launched

and when i edit the file it doesn't actually change anything i think that patched it so you can't actually change it in notepad due to so many cheaters in the game.

Buy a high resolution widescreen monitor. Play in a low resolution.

He is aware of that, he was just pointing out that he does not see the logic in having a high res monitor and running things at a lower resolution. I don't either.

Try editing then making the config file read only
