As you can see it runs at 405 playing this 8 yr old game (it's also badly coded), help? D:

Try maxing out all the 3d graphic settings in Nvidia's control panel?

The game is so horribly optimized it has trouble running on max without forcing outside things like AA.

My old GTX 460 @ 910 hz could never run it at smooth fps with all the ingame settings on max.

My 9800 GT actually ran it better than my 460

I turned on x32 AA, but it doesn't seem to of taken affect, I don't know which application I need to choose to get it to work so I'll continue looking, but here you can see the difference in fps (red number, top right) between 405 mhz and 910 mhz

Aside from improving the FPS, the usage which I would prefer at 99% while playing a game, goes from 50% to 19%

In old mmos it will always be CPU limited rather GPU demanding, especially they are mostly written to only use 1 core or 2 (you have to bare in mind that dual-core CPU wasn't out until something like 2004/2005), and having 3rd and 4th core won't help improving frame rate in anyway.

Simply put...you are not going to see GPU usage hitting 100% with the GTX570 in old mmos due to CPU limitation. You will see better gain on overclock your CPU than your graphic card.

What CPU you using and any overclock?

thanks for the information guys

CPU overclocked to 4 ghz

I fixed the issue anyone, I needed to change the setting in power management from adaptive to maximum performance.

Since you already overclocked the CPU to 4GHz, then there's not much more you can do to improve your frame rate. But if you are on a Core2 or Phenom II instead of i5/i7, then there would still be room for improvement on frame rate by upgrading the CPU (but can't say it's really worth it for running an old game, unless you still planning on play it for a very long time).

Ya it's an i7, FFXI is forever gunna be impossible to run at max it seems
Yea...it's not gonna happen unless Intel or AMD actually managed to launch a CPU that's capable of running single/dual threaded applications according all the cores, instead of just making use of 1 or 2 cores...

But at least the newer games are starting to have better support for using Quad-cores...not much can be done for old games though.
