I have an issue using "Windows Live Movie Maker" to remove commercials from media centre recordings.

Normally "Windows Live Movie Maker" works fine however I have a bunch of recordings where the main program is in 16:9 however they all have commercials before the main program in 4:3. If I run a “Media Info” tool on one of these files it states that the first video stream is in 4:3

Due this when I open the file in “Windows Live Movie Maker" it forces the whole video to a 4:3 aspect ratio (seen in the preview window) The outcome is that even if I select 16:9 for the projects output it exports the edited video in a 4:3!!!!!!!!!!

Is there a way to force the input to be 16:9?

I have converted the .wtv file to .dvr-ms and have also tried edit the file header using a DvrmsMetadata tool however I cannot see the tags for ratio.

I have been trying to sort this for 4 nights now and My Head hurts!!!!!!!

Thanks

I have already tried the new version of virtuadub however it no longer supports media centre format files:

.wtv Error: Unsupported file type

.DVR-MS Error: ASF Files are not supported

The support of .asf was removed at Microsoft’s request due to a patent infringement post version 1.3d

and the old version 1.3c just does not want to operate correcly under under Windows 7 64 Bit.

Thanks for the sugestion though.
