Hi all.

I want to be able to access my music / videos / files whilst out and about (from either Android phone or laptop).

My server runs 10.04 LTS. What should I look at to allow me to access my media (and transcode where needed). I tried to get install Jinzora running but the documentation seemed very flaky, it worked with 2 albums imported and then when I went to import the rest of my collection I hit a problem and as the documentation is so old / spares, I couldn't work through it.

Any suggestions of anything better supported?

Give SubSonic a try - I use it to stream audio to my phone, though the web front end will also transcode video.

Tonido looks pretty good, any experience using it?

For a limited time, yes. I liked the look and wanted to play (don't *nix types always? lol) but I had no real-world use for it atm. It was easy to set up and worked well in my testing/playing, and is cross-platform and free so it's well worth a go. :)

Tonido looks good, subsonic IS good, but to enable the good features of it (mobile app) you need to donate €10, albeit isn't much and I was planning on doing, but now I've seen Tonido, I'll give that a whirl first.
