Just a quick question (ha ha) for you lost far more experienced than I am with Linux.

Had a few tries at installing 8.10 last night, after 4 failed installs and 3 blank discs wasted, I tried 7.10. First install I screwed up so on to number 2. This is the only install that I have managed to get 1920x1200 to work by following this guide to get it configured. Very quickly through my lack on knowledge of linux, I broke the install 30 mins later forcing me to reinstall.

Now, here's the problem. Every time I've reinstalled after the 2nd instalation of Gutsy, I cannot get 1920x1200 to work. Either the screen locks at a very ow resoloution, or it uses 1024x768 but with the left edge of the screen in the middle. This last install it has managed to do full screen 1024x768 but it cannot be changed.

The xorg configuration is set to use 1920x1200 1280x1024 1024x768 and 800x600. Any ideas please?
