Hello

I hope you guys can help please!

I have a Dell Precision M6700 and a Dell Ultrasharp U2713HM monitor but I can't seem to get the max 2560 x 1440 resolution. I've done a bit of googling and it seems I can only get that resolution via DVI connection. My laptop doesn't have a DVI port - only HDMI or VGA. Will a dual link DVI to HDMI cable sort out this problem?

Thanks! :)

HDMI (depending on the version) should be able to support the resultion without problem. Some screens will also accept 2560 x 1440 at 60Hz over VGA, although can't recall if the U2713HM was one that did. Try a VGA > VGA cable first in case.

if not, an HDMI > DVI cable might do the trick. probably also depends on your graphics card in the laptop

The HDMI port on the U2713HM is limited to 1920 x 1080, no matter how you connect it up. It seems VGA may be the same (although I haven't tested it). You may be out of luck I'm afraid. :(

Looking at the Dell technical specs, it appears to have a displayport connector (on the right had side).. does it actually have one, if so use a displayport cable
