^^ What He Said!
I use Log me in, plus DynDNS on my Router, and Bobs your Aunties Cousin, it works a treat!

Rob :)

how can i check that and is there sutch this as a home server friendly, reliable isp that will enable me to get the same speeds now for the same price

It's specifically for users who have dynamic IP's, from what you've said it's exactly what you're after. If not googling dynamic dns will give you a list of other providers of the same free services. If you need more info it's all on the respective providers site including the premium paid options as well as the basic free services :)

Bethere if your phoneline is good and you're in an LLU enabled area.

If not, an entanet reseller (e.g. TitanADSL).

Avoid VM as you can't get static IP without signing up for the business service (and you need a registered business to do that).

it should work fine - you just type in whatever your dyndns is (e.g. register "macremotedesktopsucks.dyndns.org" and then he can type that in when he wants to connect to you).

edit: It's easy enough to test it now - get him to try it with just your current IP and then register a dydnds and then try that. If they both work, you've proved him wrong.

can you explain how it works, he is annoyed because every time he needs to connect to my dads mac he needs to enter a new ip adress
