How to get access to a client's domain

I'm doing a site for a client who aren't technically minded at best. They've got a domain which was bought via BT (they think, as part of some business startup thing from what I can gather) and then some hosting from another company who they now hate.

As a result I'm providing their new hosting and I've also developed their new website.

Trouble is getting them to give me the domain registrar login details so I can change the nameservers is like getting blood out of a stone. They don't know who registered it let alone what the login is. The domain is cliftontimes.co.uk.

A quick whois shows the registrar etc as:

Registrar:
Register.com Inc t/a British Telecom [Tag = BTNAMES]
URL: http://www.btconnect.com

Name servers:
dns01.gpn.register.com
dns02.gpn.register.com etc

The client's just sent me an email entitled "Domain Details" and all it contains is "cliftontimes.co.uk password enter1" (password changed for here ;)). I've tried that on register.com (although I assume that's the other hosting) and BTConnect to no avail and also substituted in one of their BT email addresses for the username on BT.

I'm just at a loss as to how else I can explain to them what I need and how to get it. They've already emailed me their old FTP details about 5 times thinking that's what I want despite my constant explanations otherwise. Arggh!

Can't help but you have my sympathies - currently trying to do the domain transfer (for a client) of a .com registered with Office Live...

Absolute nightmare.

All sorted now. Guessed their account email address based on her name and guessed the password. Very secure .

And on the subject of BT, what an awful UI!
