hey, whenever someone sends me a file over msn, it says virus scan failed, i have had a look around the internet and tried a few of paths for the scanner but it never works, i was wondering if anyone else uses Avira and has enabled to to scan incoming msn files, thanks :)

You need to download and use the command line scanner from Avira's site if you want to do this. It's a waste of time though, because the 'normal' AV scans everything anyway. It's just a silly rule built into WLM.

Top tip (from the WLM devs): put the virus scanner path as simply "ping.exe" in the WLM options and you'll get no more prompts about unsafe file transfers, while allowing your "real" AV to watch things for you. Easy. :)

I've had the virus path as ping.exe for aaagges now and never seen a command prompt. Did you try it yet, or are you just presuming one will pop up?
