I reformatted and since i use an ssd i disabled the index by de-selecting the "allow files on this drive to have contents indexed in addition to file properties" i may have done something else but cannot remember what. I want to be able to search for files on other drives as well as the C drive like i had before, currently i can only search for programs.

So how do i get it back; without enabling "ALL" of the indexing caching or whatever so as to avoid unnecessary write to the SSD? I have tried to re-create the index via control panel; it says rebuilding the index might take a long time..." but nothing happens. thanks

I looked at the OCZ site and they said that too mnay writes can "damage" the drive and/or reduce performance sepcally with databses like indexing maybe im just overly worried.

So how do you enable global indexing please?

What does your indexing configuration look like?

All accessible via Start Menu search.

Hi, folder options looks identical, indexing options says "indexing is not running" and if i select rebuild nothing happens. I cannot search for "indexing locations" probable because its not running. So how do i get index going again?

You know when you right click on a drive and de-select "allow files on this drive to have contents indexed in additions to file properties" that does not affect it right?
