How to get best DVD picture quality on PC LCD?

I would like to be able to watch DVDs on my PC Monitor (1280x1024), but the quality I get through Power DVD is pretty poor. The image is always blurred, I guess due to the scaling of the image upto 1280x1024.

I'm sure there must be a way of getting an image on a monitor that's better than this

I'm guessing the problems start with your monitor doing the scaling. There was a thread the other day where folks said HTPC's were far better than upscaling DVD players so I can only assume it's possible to get a great picture. MAybe using the nvidia pure mpeg decoder with mediaplayer?
