Before i was able to idle at 40degrees and load at 55 (1.45v) on my watersetup (nexxxos xp bold, maze 4, eheim 1250, 120.3). Tried all the usual lapping which helped a bit and got temps down from 60 to 55 at load. Quick mod of the block and now idle at 33degrees and load at 40degrees at 1.57v.

The core on core2duo is like this:

Most blocks work by passing water across a channel and the nexxxos blocks are one of these blocks. My block had 939 mounts and no 775 mounts so by using a thermaltake universal mount clip of a Big Typhoon i was able to mount clip to s939 mounts on block and then use s775 mounts from clip to attach to board.

First the black line was in line with red line on cpu which gave the bad temps. By rotating block 90degrees and getting the 2 red lines parallel i got the much better temps.

This keeps my options open and seemed pointless to order a new top when had these clips spare anyway. Just had to cut them in the middle bar of the original thermaltake clips and then bolt clip to old mounts. Rotating the block makes such a difference - explains why some people get rubbish temps and some people get good temps on water
