How to get esata to work?

Weird did you try the black then just incase as that is probably the main controller hence the ahci in your bios. I have an asrock board with the same sort of setup as this someplace and was gonna use it as a data recovery machine. I will set it up asap and test the hot plug feature and see if there is anything I need to do to get it to work then post back here for you mate :)

Anyone have the P5Q3 Deluxe and have a clue???

I take it you have tried connecting a hdd to the esata & its not working then?
Do you have vista installed?

I have a ASUS P5QL-E mobo, i dont know if the esata was working on it after i first installed windows, but i tried it after i switched to using the ahci & it was working then & hotswapable so its something u could try.

If you installed vista without using a floppy F5 on install then u will have to edit the registry first to get vista to use the ahci drivers before you switch it in Bios, let me know if you need help with this.....:)

Ok got that system setup and esata is working but not hot swapable, I have to go into device manager and search for the device, sadly I installed the pc without ahci without noticing so I will resolve this and get back to you again if it works Ripper.

I have got P5Q3 and having trouble with esata.

I have a single drive for OS and 2 drives in RAID1 - could this be the problem?
If the hdd config is set to RAID mode will esata still work?

You can switch to the ahci by editing the registry, then enabling it in bios
