how to get higher resolutions

hello quick and maybe stupid question , i have a 19" tft but a graphics card that can go well in excess of its resolution (8800gts 320mb) so why do they go this high or will my monitor go higher than its listing HannsG HU196D 19" 8MS 700:1 (1280 x 1024) or does it mean i can use it on a 20"+ tft

Its so you can use your graphics card on a higher resolution monitor like a 20, 22 24" etc.

Install the monitor driver and those higher resolutions should disappear.

i have 2 monitors in mind which is best for games

do i need the dvi or is the faster responce time better
