How to get my fan to just run of a PSU

Hi all I was just wondering if it was possible to get a computer fan to work by just connecting it to the PSU with no motherboard or anything ?

You can do, you need to short a couple of pins on the motherboard connector, I think it is green and black from memory but do a quick Google search on jump-starting a PSU.

Thing is, that pin isn't necessarily always the same colour, different manufacturers use differing colours.

Grey is another that springs to mind.
