Hi Guys,

I recently got the Pana SC-BT205 All-in-One BD Home Cinema system and paired it with my 42" PZ800. All has gone smoothly and its very impressive so far...

Problem I have is I have no idea how to make it work with my VM V Box so that when Im watching Cable the sound comes out of the HC speakers and not the TV. Ive looked through the menus but cant find anything of help (assumed I need some kind of passthrough option) other than the Viera Link button which lets me switch between the TV and HC for sound - when I have the V Box playing theres just no sound going through to the HC speakers.

I know it must be something to do with how its all cabled (theres nothing directly connecting the HC and the V Box) - currently the BD Player of the AIO is connected via HDMI to the TV while the V Box is connected via SCART to the TV. The BD only seems to have 1 HDMI connection which also worries me (thought I could use it like a VCR to connect TV > BD > V Box)...

I just dont think there are any other connections at the back of the V Box to use. If it makes any difference I am now considering getting the V+ Box to enjoy the HD lineup and hoping whatever issue I have now will not affect that otherwise its a bit of a pointless speaker upgrade (household is Cable mad)

Cheers

Should be V box's optical --> home cinema system I think? No idea if your system has an optical input, just saying the most obvious thing for the moment.

Your Home cinema system must have some sort of AUX input. Ether Phono or Optical??

And I'm sure most VM cable boxes have phono outputs...

The Samsung V+HD box only has an optical output though. But the SA V+HD box has both phono and optical.

Trying to find a pic of the back of each to work this out - the BD player seems to have most of the standard connections I would expect - definitely phono (L/R ones) and optical...

The V Box is a SMT-2110C and the BD player is a SA-BT205 if that helps...

Sneaky suspicion the V Box doesnt have anything but SCART - at work so cant tell...

OK looks like the SMT-2110C has an optical connection so gonna use that - will pick up a cable tonight - I guess that same connection will be used when I upgrade to the V+ Box as I doubt they still supply the SA boxes (which is the better V+ box?)

BD Player connections said:
HDMI Terminals 1
Video Out 1
Component Video Out (Y, PB, PR) 1
Analogue Audio Input 1 (AUX)
Digital Audio Input 2 (optical)
Phone Out 1
USB Terminal 1
Ethernet Terminal 1
Wireless Terminal 1

Cheers

The SA (yes they do still supply these but it's fairly rare) and the Samsung V+ box both have optical ports, so whichever you get you'll be fine. However, the Samsung is the more modern of the two and is generally considered to be a bit quicker and better looking.

Just got an optical cable and after a lot of fiddling Ive got it working!!! Just had to make sure its selecting the right audio source via HC and right video source via TV.

Quite nice to hear normal TV is pseudo-surround sound...

Will get that V+ ordered now...
