Noticed something tonight with MSI Afterburner.
You can now add in your own Encoder for use with Afterburner. So I thought what about AMD's Stunning VCE Encoder this Encoder is used in Raptr. It allows you to encode the game on the fly with an AMD GPU to give the end user superb performance when recording games.

So I benched two games so far, one run using Raptr and other with AB both using VCE!

Tomb Raider
Afterburner - Min 52 - Max 96 - Avg 71.6

Raptr - Min 50 - Max 90 - Avg 65.7

Hitman Absolution
Afterburner - Min 52 - Max 96 - Avg 64.6

Raptr - Min 52 - Max 102 - Avg 65.8

Msi Afterburner Settings

What are the Plus and Minus of doing this?
+Use VCE with Programs like Dxtory, Msi Afterburner to dig deeper into there rich settings.
+Better performance when using other programs like Dxtory
+More flexibility not locked down to one program
+did I mention freedom?

-Without Raptr you loose Mantle recording
Anything else?

Both Programs had settings matched
Recording driver is 5400rpm drive so expect some performance loss.

Will add Dxtory later.

I will upload the video to youtube tomorrow and will also see files sizes.
I wasn't running crossfire atm only have one GPU in my system.

After a bit of testing, it seems that Mirillis puts out noticeably better quality vids at similar file sizes.
If I cba, I'll put up some comparison vids tomorrow, either straight DL, or uploaded to YT and we'll see how badly it screws them.

Still, you do have to pay for Mirillis after the 30 day trial, so there is that :D

Either way, nice find and to answer my own question: No, AB doesn't disable xfire when it records. That's just something I found when trying OBS capture.

Yeah the paying for Dxtory and Mirillis I should put the under one the minuses.. You do get what you pay for with the programs though and if Recording is a day in and day out thing someone does paying isn't the bad option.

Another thing to point out, MSI AB now supports replay feature thats found in Raptr and ShadowPlay.

Youtube changes its stock quality based on the quality and format you give it.
This is why everyone's uploads can look much different.

I not tried bf4 with Raptr for sometime now but tomorrow I'll make sure I jump on and get some footage for testing..

Here what raptr on csgo looks like with max recording settings
Raptr 60FPS test - CSGO - Inferno ACE!: http://youtu.be/fGB86BNtd2o

And here what msi afterburner with AMD VCE looks like, I find raptr is much better even though performance is very much the same.
CSGO - Train - ACE! 60fps: http://youtu.be/JM-JcHOC75o

And last here is some mantle recording with Raptr on plant vs zombies garden warfare
Raptr - Mantle Recording - Plant Vs Zombies GW 60…: http://youtu.be/2k-WHzM-TLI

I have a Mantle and DX11 Raptr Recording uploading once they finish processing later I'll post them here.

I started off with Mantle, and one thing I noticed/forgot about his the crazy amount screen tear that shows up on the recording.. So after 10mins recording that, I thought i'll jump back in again with Mantle but this time enable Vsync..

Nope! Still crazy amount screen tear, This something the Mantle recording needs to work on because the performance and IQ is something special..

So in the end I had to switch to DX11 to get footage you can see better without having to deal with screen tear..

You see what I mean once I upload the Mantle Footage, first DX11..

Here is DirectX 11 footage, I can see the same amount of blur you taking about in this.

Raptr - Battlefield 4 - 60fps - DirectX 11

Edit
Just looked at the Raw footage and the Blur isn't there.. So not sure what YouTube is doing here with BF4 footage? Other games so far have been fine.. Will see how the Mantle footage turns out, if you can ignore the screen tear.

This one Raptr on the right looks slightly brighter than MSI AB, Raptr looks better with Tomb Raider, MSI AB looks better with Sleeping Dogs? is that... is that what it is?

Nar other is hitman. You just reminded me though I could do with installing sleeping dogs again.

Noticed when recording Theif with Mantle it doesn't have the screen tear bug..

Some more recordings

World of Diving - Very cool game, Steam early access could become something very good. - MSI Afterburner with VCE

Shanky how are you doing with this ? I've got 295x2 and I'd like to do some recording of my BF4 gameplay, but I'm using mantle...

For Mantle atm you after use raptr.. Although I don't think mantle recording is possible with Crossfire enabled..

Something a future raptr update is going to fix.
