Hello all,

I have a t reg polo which is, quite frankly, a shed.

It leaks profusely and as such one side of the car has a large pond/small lake forming in it. It is firing on 3 cylinders rather than 4, I tried in the past to repair this issue but to no avail. This is in addition to aesthetic issues such as peeling laquer.

For these reasons I don't think selling it on to a normal road user is suitable, it realistically should be either scrapped or dismantled for parts.

I now have a Focus and am thinking about how to get rid of my old car would be.

It has tax until the end of February, and MOT until June, it is currently insured so I can still currently drive it.

So motors, what are my options?

eBay as spares or repair

Always end up getting more than you expected because there's always a nutter who will bodge it through another MOT and run it into the ground again

Your misfire issue will be an easy fix for someone and so will the blocked drains or leaky doors

If it drives even better of it doesn't you always get a woolyback type show up with a land rover and trailer

Yea scrapping might be easier than waiting 5/7 days for an auction to finish but then your throwing away a motor that could be ok for someone

eBay. Be honest about it - I sold my girlfriend's old car with a shredded cambelt (therefore knackered engine) and still got £500 - market value was around £800.

I got rid of a Rover 220DS on e-bay with no tax and an MOT fail list as long as your arm. It was gone in a week and I was £360ish better off.

Thanks for all the suggestions, I think i will try gumtree, followed by eBay, and if all else fails then scrapyard! Will be glad to see the back of it lol.

scrappy or webuyanycar type places. You will likely end up trading value for convenience but it wilk be gone.
