How to get rid of crows?

Howdy,

Right every bloody day iv got a bunch of crows pecking and banging (I mean really loud banging, sounds like someones hammering on my roof).

My next door neighbour has a hole on the side of his house roof and birds nest in there every year, he doesn't mind though because hes a bird lover and stuff, and to be honest its actually quite fascinating watching them fly in and out and sitting on his roof etc.
And they come back every year and have done for about 10 years

But this year, there trying to get into my roof :mad:

I went up onto the roof this morning to see what the heck they've been doin the past week banging on my roof, and there was a loose roof tile, it had been lifted a bit but they cant get in, so iv nailed it down again and also put a few nails in other tiles in that specific area that they keep attacking.

But the thick *******s aint getting the message and they still keep banging on my roof which is annoying as hell, you wouldn't think youd hear a crow pecking on a roof but my god the noise is so loud lol.


So, any ideas how I can get rid of them for good? I mean I cant stick a 6 foot scare crow on my roof can I that would look absolutely stupid.

Scarecrow with high vis jacket and a hammer so it looks like someone fixing your roof

alternatively a more interesting option would be gluing a football to your roof and having the small scarecrow of a boy retrieving it.

You could claim it was banksy

But if you wing one, and you need to put it out of its misery, make sure you snap the neck properly, and not pull it off completely (I done that a few times when I used to go out with the shotgun and had a winger instead of a clean kill)

There's your issue. Crows are smart as hell so you've got to outsmart them with your human brain, not out dumb them with hurr-durr scarecrows.
 
Knew id get daft answers but this is a serious matter :p

The best iv come up with without getting the air rifle out, every time they bang on the roof, iv got a sweeping brush that I just wave from upstairs window and they see it and fly off. but it doesn't stop them

Iv got a BB airsoft gun aswell, I guess I could try shoot them with that so to scare them off before I use force.

Lol. Crows love that stuff - they'll be doing it just to get you out with your broom :D

Have you never seen crows or magpies (same family) taunting other animals? I've seen it with cats, seagulls etc - they love ****ing other animals off.

You know, that's not a bad idea actually, and there is a hell of a lot of owls in my area, infact at night one sits on the chimney pot because we got a wood burning stove, keeps its self warm :D

But I don't mind that, it shuts up after a while and I don't hear it when im asleep anyway.

But them crows banging :mad:

I guess a plastic owl wouldn't look out of place here, but I wouldn't want to scare off the real owls :D
