So I just bought a faulty 4870x2 (moronic I know :/, I thought I had placed a nominal bid, only to have typed in the number twice, so I won it).

The seller described the problem as

After run computer still black screen, but after run with another graphics card GPU-Z see this card just can not run drivers for this card and nothing in line where is bios number. I thing it posible to run this card if you now how to change bios

Any ideas? The card dosent seem to be physically damaged.

Would appreciate any help to save me losing a load of cash >_>

Have the x2 in the system as a secondary card and boot in to bios with main card and then flash the bios of the x2 with appropriate bios.

to bloody much. I need to get it working just for it to be a "normal" purchase, let alone a really good buy -_-

Will a 4870X2 fit in a 1x slot?

if GPU-z is reading the bios of the card, then a bios update wont fix it, to me it looks like the VRM is goosed.

Have a guess :p :(

The guy says the line in GPU-Z for the bios code is empty. Is this good or bad? VRM problem?

I've checked online and apparently Sapphire give a 2yr warranty for the graphics cards. The 4870x2 wasn't even released 2 years ago.......I take it I need the reciept though?

Use an old PCI VGA card, they can be had for a few quid. Someone here may even lend you one.

Or possibly remote desktop / ssh etc from another machine, even though the card won't send a signal the machine should still boot and you could run Radeon BIOS Editor remotely. Failing that come up with a way to automate the flash process after setting the PC to boot off a USB stick.

sapphire was fussy with me as i didnt have a reciept, its always worth a try.

If no joy with sapphire i think these may have overheated at somepoint, if you can get these from somewhere worth a try at fixing it or sell it.
