How to get u12a cooling from u12s ?

You can't.
They're physically different coolers and even if difference in number of heat pipes doesn't matter there's surface area difference.

Any idea of how much of a real difference between the 2 ? because most of the reviews ive seen, they have about 1c difference on normal and 15c on the high end from what I've seen online. I was assuming that was mostly due to the pull-push.

10C difference is quite lot at high heat outputs.
I agree its a lot, if you check the link its neck and neck on normal use and overclocking but the difference shows when you push it to the extreme see the OC blender and aida64 / OC
after taking another look it's about 15c at the extreme.
I assume even with dual fans I would still be better off with u12a ?
I just wanted to see how much of a difference with a pull-push, I can't seem to find much online the only one I found shows 3c

NH-U12S has pretty tight high impedance fin spacing.
Then again also bundled has has highish max speed and high pressure.
Hence second fan wouldn't make that big difference.

Though doubt second fan makes that much difference also in case of U12A.
It's with limited speed fans where extra pressure ability of two fans helps most.

Anyway instead of Noctua's super high brand prices would recommended lot better bang for buck coolers.
Scythe Mugen 5 is same weight level cooler as U12A, but at half the price.

Thanks for the advice but I already have a u12s I have been considering getting the u12s chromax (no black u12a) and just sell my old one, I was just looking to see if I could improve performance

U12S Chromax is even more extremely brand overpriced than very brand overpriced U12S.
Overall competition simply has passed Noctua many years ago in performance for money and by whole lap of track.

Ive just been going by the reviews I've seen and most suggest Noctua.

plus its been easier to get a noctua on the 2nd hand market due to its popularity.

While at the same time Noctua spends money for advertising on many of those sites kinda rising conflict of interest...
Actually bigger sites even review these smaller marketing brand coolers lot less often.
(and some brands aren't available in NA)

Second hand availability is of course easier for parts in fashion and sold more.
But even then prices might not be that good compared to competition.

Both are clearly heavier duty coolers than U12S...

I see your point but for me its a bit hard to understand this When I can't see a modern review comparing the coolers its a bit hard to understand,
also in the past when I did try and get the scythe mugen 5 rev.b it was near impossible same goes for Thermalright, I could not get them in the uk and the 2 that did advertise them had no stock, since then Ive not really bothered with them again.
