Hi all.
I've just insulated my shed with aluminium foil and when I close the door I loose my wifi and data.

On the outside of my house I have a tp link cpe210 set as an access point, nomally wifi in the garden is fine.

I can't run an ethernet cable to the hut.

Putting an extender inside the hut won't work either.

All I can think of is and outdoor aerial connected to a wifi router inside the hut, with the screw off antenna removed.

Does anyone have any ideas? or recommendations?

Many thanks.

Yes if you but an outdoor one, some have crazy range like 5KM but I only seen WIFI N for some reason and you can imagine price.

WiFi repeater with both an externally mounted antenna and an internal antenna; fairly common setup for campers and caravan's. Although off the shelf setups aren't typically cheap.
As you mention, an outdoor external antenna connected to a router (old Linksys etc), with one antenna outside the other inside, with SMA connectors might do the trick.

Otherwise, as others have similarly said, you could create a P2P link with another CPE210 mounted externally and feed that to another AP/router inside the shed. This might work out to be the cheapest solution considering the cost of the Tplinks.

Cheers. I was considering another cpe210 or a router. It's knowing what router has screw off antennas, internet pictures don't do it justice.
The external aerial is confusing me a bit, what do the db decibels mean when referring to an antenna?

Antenna gain is expressed in dB or sometimes dBi. Any positive number means that the antenna is boosting received signal level. 3dB = double the signal power.

And i already have the outlet connected to a router inside the house for stronger wifi upstairs.

Your problem - "I've just insulated my shed with aluminium foil and when I close the door I loose my wifi and data."
Distance from shed. "I only need 6m."
Solution - "1 ethernet cable up on a pole or a pipe under ground.
Your answer - "Because I'm not a gypo"

You going to go round in circles if you do it any other way. I won't be posting in this thread any more because you not listening. Go get yourself over to Mumsnet or Dadsnet for answers then.
