How to go about making a profile based web site?

HI im quite knew to web design and i only really have the very basics of how to make web sites down, I want to try and build a basic profile web site similar to faceparty or myspace but obviously not as complex as those, But ill upgrade it as i go along.

I know those two sites were developed by companys but i was wandering if there are any profile web site making software around that you can get and configure, sort of like how there are a lot of different forum software out their? Or do you have to make a profile site yourself from scratch with forums and data base tools ect?

Point me in the right direction cheers..

hehe man. very ambitous idea. although I suspect there was an army of coders/designers for faceparty and myspace.

You'd think a fourteen-year-old would have the capacity to construct the design over at MySpace

But back on topic; to be brutally honest if you don't have the faintest idea how to create a website, and you're looking for ready-packaged solutions to launch a social networking website, what is the point? If you could make a carbon copy of MySpace/Bebo/Hi5/Faceparty/Friendster with an off-the-shelf solution and get millions of users, everyone would be doing it. Unfortunately things don't work like that!

LOL Im just looking to start learning I know how make basic web site with deamweaver ect. I dont want to make a massive web site off the bat I just want to start toying with it at a basic level, maybe have a few mates join it and stuff.

What joomla, subdreamer or mambo, One of these could do the job cound'nt they?
