Hi,

I recently bought a 360 and would like to use it constantly on Xbox Live! with my PC on the net at the same time. The slight problem is i only have one ethernet cable running up to my room from a downstairs room - and i dont want to run another cable just for this.

In a previous job i remember using an adaptor which plugged in to an RJ45 socket and gave out two RJ45 sockets - thus giving two connections. One of these adaptors was required on both ends of the one cable. My only problem with this, of course, is that i have a cable - not an RJ45 socket DJU to plug the adaptor into. Also, i cant remember what this little adaptor is called.

My other option i guess would be to get a small hub/switch and use that - but to be honest im low on electricity sockets and would prefer not to use one if i dont have to.

And then there is the fact i could get a wireless adaptor for the Xbox 360 and leave the PC with the one and only cable. But these are hard to find at the moment and i would rather game over a good old cable rather than wireless.

What are your suggestions?

My setup: XBOX 360 and PC in my room > Cat6 Ethernet Cable > Wireless Router (Netgear DG834G) > Internet.

I use a Belkin 5 port switch at home to link our pc's together on the network, you can pick these up for about £20. Mines been on for months non stop without problems

Well, did some looking around and got myself a Netgear FS605 as i had read loads of good stuff about it and have a fair amount of Netgear equipment at home that has all performed well for the past year or so.

Good price too :D

I guess ill just have to find another socket!
